These glittered white snowy pinecone ornaments will look lovely hanging from your family's Christmas tree! Also very pretty attached to a bow on a holiday gift. I picked up these pinecones at about 6500 feet in elevation in beautiful Monument CO. I painted them white then drenched them in crystal glitter, then sprayed a gloss clear over them for protection. Each one hangs from a screw eye in the bottom, and has a white cord and a white glossy painted wooden bead. Even though I have spray painted them with clear gloss, little bit of shed glitter is to be expected.
Each pinecone is about 3 1/2" wide x 3" tall, and including the hanging cord is around 6 - 6 1/2" from top to bottom.
Pine trees are commonly linked with virtue and long life, even immortality. The pine tree is iconic of the Japanese New Year, as a symbol of rebirth, renewal, and a bright (hopeful) future. The saplings captures a symbolic reference to longevity and rebirth.
An important benefit of pine trees is their ability to support local ecosystems. In providing shelter and food for local wildlife, pine trees are extremely important to keeping the ecosystem balanced and in-check.
The dense foliage works to provide protection from sun, inclement weather and predators that pose a threat to local wildlife populations. Additionally, the seeds that pine trees produce are rich in nutrients and act as an important resource in many animals’ diets, especially birds and squirrels.
